My name is Joseph Stroh and I am a grad student at Northern Arizona University working toward an MA in Sociology. I am currently working on my thesis and I was wondering if you and the members of your club might like to participate. I am interested in whether one's income level as well as how one perceives the passage of time while running effects participation and performance in competitive endurance running. To do this I have organized an online survey which will only take about 10 minutes to complete. With this email is an attachment which includes a brief synapses of my research topic, contact information on the faculty member who is sponsoring my research as well as the link to the survey. I also urge you to contact Professor Doug Degher (my sponsoring faculty member) to verify the validity of my study. Thus far I have 135 completed surveys and I need 300 before I can begin to analyze the data. Once the data is analyzed I will send all the participants the results of my survey as well as the entire copy of my thesis if they are interested. If you know any other competitive endurance runners who are not members of your club but might be interested in my research please feel free to forward this email and attachment to them.
Thank you so much,
Joe
COMPETITIVE
ENDURANCE RUNNING RESEARCH
Hello, my name is Joseph Stroh
and I am a graduate student at
I am looking for willing volunteers to participate in an online survey asking people about their experiences while running. These surveys will be used in my Master’s thesis entitled Endurance Running: The Effect of Time Perception Distortion and Socioeconomic Status. All information provided will be confidential and no identifying information will be asked of you.
The survey will ask you
questions regarding any distortion of time you might experience while running,
and if this might have an influence on your performance. The survey will also
ask basic demographic questions as well as questions regarding your income and
if your income level effects your performance or participation in competitive
endurance running.
Unfortunately, my status as a student precludes me from offering a monetary incentive for participation in the survey, however, if you participate in the survey you will be sent a write-up discussing the survey.
This research will investigate if experiencing time perception distortion affects one’s performance. Secondly, a focus on the relationship between competitive endurance running and socioeconomic status will be explored.
If you are interested in participating in my survey, are above the age of 18, are a competitive endurance runner and are interested in the affects that a distorted perception of time and income level may have on the participation or performance of fellow competitive endurance runners please click here for survey.
I also urge you to pass this survey on to any other individual who you feel would like to participate.
Thank you for your time.
